Photographic Evidence

Barry Ainsworth is travelling around the country documenting heritage crafts and artisan makers, and we welcomed him into our studio a few weeks ago. We attract a few photographers, letterpress and each photographer focuses on a particular aspect of the studio which is always great to see. I particularly like how Barry has captured the movement in the studio…

2017 was a fantastic year for The Smallprint Co’s Gallery Space. We welcomed local, national and international artists to the space, with particular highlights being the Format Festival and John Blakemore & Rosalind Pounder.

We were very proud to have been involved with the already well-established Derby Book Festival that returns to the Creative and Gallery Spaces in June 2018. Peter Knight, print and artist’s book maker has been selected to show during the festival, and I’m sure that you will agree, his work is a feast for literary and artistic eyes alike.

We’re pleased to have finalised exhibitors for The Gallery Space for 2018. December’s slot will feature a group of national and international artists, giving you the opportunity to undertake some seriously unique Christmas gift shopping.

It goes without saying that this new venture for The Smallprint Company could not have been realised without the support and commitment of friends, family, visitors and of course, the artists themselves, so thank you.

Post Truth Mail Art Project Exhibition

We sent a call-out for work in our first ever mail art project last September.

Over the intervening months we have had submissions from all over the world – Japan, Turkey, Brazil, Australia, United States to name a few.

It’s always a thrill to receive artwork through the post and we have enjoyed the wide and varied interpretations of the brief (found here in an earlier post).

This week marks the launch of our first ever Mail Art Project exhibition and we’re already looking forward to holding another one… so watch this space.

The exhibition runs from Saturday 21st October through to Saturday 18th November.
