Japanese Bookbinding Workshop: Experiment with simple binding techniques in this Japanese Bookbinding Workshop to create a journal, sketchbook, scrapbook or album.

On the Day

Hannah will teach a small group the basics of a simple bookbinding technique – known as Japanese, Stab or Four Eye Binding – and how to make a hardcover for your project.

After choosing a beautiful decorative paper, you will learn how to construct an A5, hard backed book, using the stab binding sewing technique to hold the pages and covers together.

Your decorative book will make the perfect journal or sketchbook, holding treasured photos or written memories.

At the end of the session you will be able to take away the skills and book that you have made.

All materials and resources are provided, so you don’t need to bring anything!

Suitable for children also, 12 years upwards.

Cancellation Policy

Please let us know as soon as possible if you can’t attend the workshop. Cancellations cannot be accepted within 24 hours of the workshop starting. Refunds cannot be issued within this timeframe however we will offer alternative dates for you to reschedule.

Hannah and Chris have brought their passion for print to the high street with their boutique studio close to the centre of Derby and its famous Cathedral Quarter. The team prints letterpress commissions for private clients and small businesses, facilitates workshops on and off site and produces a range of popular greetings cards for retail. A gallery is situated to the front of the studio which shows work by printmakers and workshop attendees alike. They welcome volunteers to the studio to help with cataloguing their expanding collection of type too, so get in touch if you fancy getting your hands inky!
