Ey Up Duck! Send a traditional Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire welcome with one of our best sellers. The card is hand printed in contrasting colours with a fabulous image of a duck to accompany the greeting (ey up, duck!). There’s some debate over the spelling of Ey Up, so check out our alternative here.

Why duck?

Ey up, also written as ‘ay up’, ‘ayup’ or ‘eyup’ is a Midlands greeting, used widely throughout Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire. Thought to be of Old Norse origin ‘se upp’ and “m’ duck” it dates back to Saxon times here in England and is thought to be derived from a respectful Anglo Saxon form of address, ‘Duk’, ‘Duc’ or ‘Duka’ – literally ‘duke’ – and is totally unrelated to waterfowl. So don’t be offended, we’re being nice!

Add a message

Personalise your card with a typewritten note. Simply select the ‘Add a Message’ option and leave the text required in the ‘Order Notes’ when you checkout, or alternatively message us with the text, and we’ll type it up and tip it in to the card. We can post directly to the recipient, please make sure you put the address in at the checkout.

The team prints letterpress commissions for private clients and small businesses, facilitates workshops both on and off site, and produces a range of popular greetings cards and stationery for retail. A gallery is situated to the front of the studio which showcases work by both printmakers and their workshop attendees.
