These workshops can be bought for yourself, or you can choose to treat someone else, in which case we will send you a physical gift certificate or gift voucher to give to the lucky recipient.
Using our collection of wooden poster type and original metal fonts the Smallprint Company offer unique letterpress printing experiences from typesetting and printing to experimental typography and poster printing.
With our extensive knowledge of the heritage craft of letterpress we can help you to develop your skills in design and printing, whether you want to learn the basics of typesetting and composing or fancy more advanced tuition we can tailor our courses to your requirements.
The Tutor
Chris is a printer and designer with 30 years experience in the print and graphics industry. After studying in Fine Art he gained hands on experience in the print trade, from print finishing, pre-press, design and gaining an apprenticeship as a lithographic press operator.
Chris has continued to study the history and techniques of design, typography and printmaking and is an extremely knowledgeable and enthusisatic tutor.

Experiment with Typography and Print

Typography Print sessions are great for realising a short type-based project!
Investigate the studio’s library of fonts to make a typographic print and experiment with inks and arrangement. Chris will be on hand to advise on form and layout to help you create the perfect print as you build your typesetting and composition skills.
Introduction to Letterpress
These sessions are ideal for anyone who has recently acquired an Adana or simply wants to learn the technical details of letterpress which provides the foundations for printing, design and typography.

Since the Smallprint Company launched in 2013 we have had the opportunity to work with some amazing organisations. With our knowledge and experience in printmaking, bookbinding and especially letterpress we have been developing creative workshops that have added value to a variety of projects and events.
We are always happy to discuss ways that we can adapt our workshops to fit a particular event and audience. These can be designed to be short drop-in style workshops or more interactive sessions that can be developed over several days/weeks.
