Castell Typographical Rule

This is an original 12 inch Castell Typographical Scale rule used for measuring copy for layout.
A very useful letterpress studio accessory. It is slightly aged but is usable.

Referred to as a typometer, it is a ruler that is divided into centimetres and inches along with typographic points or ciceros. Historically, typometers were used in the visual arts to check the dimensions of typographic materials. The most advanced typometers could also gauge a text’s leading, width of paragraph rules, type size of a specific typeface, and other characteristics. Designers might then research and replicate a document’s layout in their work.
